A test fixture is a device that allows to temporary electrically connect a device for the purpose of testing it.

Elastomeric connector is a component that electrically connects electrical circuits without the use of solder. Elastomeric connector is constructed of separated conductive paths (for example wires) placed on an elastomeric core.

When compressing an elastomeric connector onto a layout of conductors (for example metal contact pads on a PCB) it is being electrically copied by the connector and signals now can be transferred to the other side of the connector which is compressed against a second layout which receives the signals. For more details see. Learn more about elastomeric connector process in the following video: https://youtu.be/c2F_2IXl6DY

Elastomeric connectors can connect RF and high frequencies as well. Whether it is impedance controlled differential pairs or single line coaxial connectors, both can be implemented with elastomeric technology.

The typical resistance of an elastomeric connector is under 0.5Ω. The wider the contact pad the lower is the resistance. For 0.5mm pitch pads typical resistance is ~100mΩ.

It is dependent of the pad’s width. The rule of thumb is 1A per 1mm pad width and up.

Typical temperature range for operation of an elastomeric connector is -50˚ to 120˚C (-65˚ to +250˚F)
